Belvedere Marittimo (Cosenza)

Ristorante Sabbia d’Oro

of Palmino Raffo and Anna Monetta
Ristorante Sabbia d’Oro

The Pollino Mount steeply slopes down to the Tyrrhenian Sea, where the Costa dei Cedri is positioned, thanks to its climate the best citrons grow here. Belvedere Marittimo is the main town; its name means ‘scenic lookout on the sea’! Even the restaurant here has an evocative name, “Sabbia d’Oro - Golden Sand”. It is family run: Palmiro, the father, provides the best ingredients; Anna, the mother, is in the back-of-the-house, Alessandro, Giuseppe, and Fabrizio, the children, warmly welcome guests.

Buon Ricordo speciality

Gnocchetti Sabbia d’Oro

In a land where sea and mountain are so close, it's inevitable that ingredients from both environments match in a recipe. When opposites meet ordinary is avoided. This is the case: potato gnocchi is cooked in a sauce of shrimp, cherry tomatoes, rocket and radicchio and a dash of peperoncino just to add the typical hot taste of Calabria cooking. As for the wine, white or rosé is recommended from the remarkable production of Verbicaro.
