Cormòns is the main town in Collio, the famed vineyard district near Gorizia. Al Giardinetto is an old restaurant certified by the Region, praised by the reviewers and one of the favoured destinations of gourmets. Maria and Ezio Zoppolatti are very proud of their three children who continue their hundred-year-old business tradition. Paolo is a well-known chef often on air, Giorgio is in charge of the front-of-the-house and a wine expert, and Giovanni is a confectioner. The location is full of atmosphere with a nice garden-terrace downtown.

Gnocchi di susine
Plums have played a great role in cooking in those border districts affected by Austro-Hungarian cuisine. The gnocchi is usually a first course dish. When dished out this food has a pitted plum - stuffed with breadcrumbs, butter, sugar, and cinnamon - wrapped up with potato-pastry, and dressed with a similar sauce. This gives the dish the characteristic sweet-and-sour taste. Worth mentioning that plums are also used to make a spirit called Sliwovitz.
